OUR EARLY YEARS VISION

In the Early Years at All Saints’ our children are happy.  They are excited and motivated to learn through rich and challenging learning experiences and opportunities to explore and take risks in both indoor and outdoor areas.

We have high expectations for all our children and recognise that children have different starting points to their learning. Our planning reflects the children’s current stage of development and interests. We aim for children to be well-rounded individuals who are Respectful, Independent, Confident, Happy, Enthusiastic and Resilient – RICHER!

EARLY YEARS FOUNDATION STAGE (EYFS)

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is a very important stage in a child’s life as it lays the foundations for a child’s journey through school. Nursery (FS1) and Reception (FS2) makes up our EYFS here at All Saints.

The EYFS framework explains how and what children will be learning to support their healthy development and provide the foundation children need to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow up.

The EYFS specifies requirements for learning and development and for safeguarding children and promoting their welfare.

Children will learn skills, acquire new knowledge and demonstrate their understanding through 7 areas of learning and development. These areas are split into the Prime Areas and Specific Areas. These areas are pictured below.

POSITIVE RELATIONSHIPS

We pride ourselves on the positive partnerships we build with parents during their time in the Early Years at All Saints’. Our parents are welcome to be actively involved with their children’s learning in school and are able to share learning experiences through ‘Stay and Play’ sessions in Nursery and ‘Celebration of Learning’ sessions in FS2.

We use Tapestry, which is an online learning journey, to document the fun and exciting learning the children take part in at school. We encourage parents and carers to share learning with us from home and believe this is very important as parents are the first educators in children’s lives. We use this information to support our assessments and share information about what children need to do next to develop and thrive.

LEARNING ENVIRONMENT

Our learning environment facilitates child-initiated play and provides children with carefully planned opportunities which allow children to explore, create and learn through exciting, stimulating, interactive and accessible resources. We have a large indoor and outdoor area for FS1 and each FS2 class has a large classroom and a shared outdoor area.
